Seeing without the limitation of time
Seeing Rothko is more like dipping into a cellular imprint rather then seeing.
There is order but it is not consecutive it is one instant of now after another. The now is not time based it is outside that limiting concept but we insist anyway.
A painting is not a painting but a moment that occurred frozen in a frequency that we call a canvas. This is a scene we enter in a kind of trance as we jump into a dimension we imagined. What we see in a Rothko painting doesn't exist but is a complete construct of the interaction of our brain waves.
